Rafael Carreira
Executive Vice President
Rafael is a real estate professional with over 30+ years of experience developing and asset managing highly profitable, award-winning, complex urban projects, including office, mixed-use, residential, retail, and educational properties. These projects comprise over 10 million square feet with an estimated value of more than $8 billion. His role in managing development projects at Riverside requires leading design teams, obtaining entitlements, managing the leasing teams, supervising construction managers, and providing asset management for institutional assets through stabilization.
Prior to joining Riverside in 2014 Rafael was with The John Buck Company for 20 years, where he was Principal and the Director of Development. From 2008 until 2013, Rafael also served as a member of the faculty at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he taught a course in Real Estate Development.
Since 2020 he has served as adjunct faculty member in the Mendoza College of Business at the University of Notre Dame.
Rafael received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Notre Dame and graduated from the J.L. Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University with an MBA degree.
